Lester Tosses Gem; BoSox win 4th Straight

Jon Lester woke up from his lethargic state of pitching and threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball with 9 strikeouts.  The Red Sox edged the Orioles 2-1, and Takashi Saito made it interesting, but got his first save as a Red Sox.

Lester returned to form.  And it’s about time.  A Cy Young candidate coming into this season, Lester started the year 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA.  But today he looked fantastic.  He has insisted after his first two starts that he felt fine and thought he was pitching well, but some unlucky breaks and a few mistakes had come back to bite him.

He may have been right, because he spanked Baltimore like a red-headed stepchild today.

  1. Hey Andy- the spanked like a red headed step child reminds a tad too much of Cole Wright on NESN. Can we start a group, I cannot tolerate the hyperbole of Cole Wright. OK, so maybe the title is too long. What do you think?

  2. Haha. Yeah, I can see that. I don’t really watch him, so I didn’t know he said anything like that. Sports Desk gets to be a little too campy for me.
